Yes it's my birthday today. Cards and pressies this morning and my husband had been listening to my pleas for a night off. I have an overnight stay at a health spa booked for a Saturday night at the end of the month- bliss. Not having had an unbroken nights sleep for well over a year I am soooo looking forward to it and the massage and facial I am booked for.
So today's celebrations involved a car trip south to my sisters for a BBQ. It was nice of them to put up the bunting and lay on such a spread just for my birthday!!
We all made the effort in the red white and blue and after a very damp start, around 4pm the sun came out. The kids had a ball, I drank too much wine and ate too much cake but it was good to catch up with friends and family again.
Excuse my husband being in the shot but it's the only full length one I got today.
dressed for the day
Trying to make the daily chore of getting dressed each day less of a chore and more of an adventure!

Rain, rain, go away.....
It's June and it's raining and it's freezing. So cold that we have resorted to putting the heating back on - in June! I even had to dig out my cashmere sweater today. We didnt do much this morning but had been invited to our neighbours for a BBQ this afternoon. I had planned to wear a floaty skirt and strappy top and wedges. Slight rethink as I needed to dress appropriately for the weather and comfort. So coral skinnies , which I am absolutely loving. What a bargain from Peacocks for just £16. Worn with a cream ruffle front top from Tu (£5 in the sale) and my trusty grey mark cashmere sweater from EWM £49 in the sale, desperately needed to keep me warm.I am wearing my lovely London scarf which matches perfectly with my trousers and is my little bit of subtle Jubilee celebration. All worn with my trusty metallic ballet pumps. We had a fab BBQ our neighbour braved the rain to cook it all for us whisg we watched him through the conservatory windows. I ate too mcuh and drank too much wine.Off to another BBQ tomorrow at my sisters for the Jubilee. We are all getting in the spirit and wearing red white and blue. I will be cracking out the palazzo pants and will be interested in what you think of them. It also my birthday tomorrow so no doubt and early start with the kids but on the plus side I get to have a drink whilst husband is rhe designated driver for the day ! Happy bank holiday Monday everyone x

Red, white & blue
Delayed from yesterday as being the last day of term and the Jubilee tea party at school things were manic!
All the kids were dressed in red, white and blue and I thought I would join in the fun. I got lots of comments - mostly good I think .....
The tea party was a bit of a washout but it wouldn't be a British picnic without the rain would it.
What have you got planned or already been doing for the Jubilee celebrations this weekend?

Summer clothes
Two days worth today as I just didn't get time yesterday to post.
It's been lovely finally cracking out the summer clothes and seeing everyone in lovely bright colours and pretty pastels. It's been nice to have the chance to go barefoot in the garden too!
Yesterday I wore the yellow and black outfit. My son said I looked like Bumblebee - character from the transformer films ! Yeah thanks F...
Anyway this black jersey top is a wardrobe staple of mine. I have had it nearly 10yrs and it was from H&M. The yellow skirt was an end of season bargain from last year from Peacocks - £5 and it is beautifully cut and fully lined!
Today's outfit was a bit more casual as I knew I would be sat on the grass watching my son playing football this afternoon. The coral skinnies were another Peacocks bargain - £16 but bought with 20% off, the t shirt was a purchase from last week at Primark (£2) and the cardigan is an old one I have that goes with everything. Worn with ballet flats.
I have a wedding coming up very soon but I am still undecided what to wear - this is when it is easier to be male. A suit, shirt and tie and you're done!

Fresh and minty
At last I have a chance to wear my new mint skinnies from Primark (bargain at £11) and my floral tunic from tesco (£14). They look good together don't you think? The top is beautifully cool in this heat and covers enough skin to give me some sun protection. The skinnies are a light weight cotton with plenty of stretch so even in the heat aren't uncomfortable.
Picnic in the park today after school - making the most of the good weather whilst we have it and getting the kids running around outside whilst catching up with some mummy friends.
Happy Friday, people.

Legs eleven !
Woo hoo the legs are out - although sadly the sun has not yet decided to join the party. But I am hopeful as yesterday started pretty much the same way and by the end of the day it was roasting hot.
Pulled out an old summer skirt from Boden - never worn by me as I fell pregnant before I got a chance to wear it. I think they may still have a couple of these in their clearance if you are lucky. Teamed with a cream jersey top from George and a cardigan from Tesco. The necklace is very old and from Tesco again I think and all finished off with my go with everything metallic pumps from Tu. I hope the sun is shining where you are !

Necklace
No photos of me today but I did buy this stunning necklace from my small local Boots, of all places! It was a bargain at £4.50 reduced down from £12.50. It co-ordinates perfectly with my beautiful new Canterbury tunic from the Boden clearance !
